Our
Policy
Safeguarding is part of our core faith and an integral feature of Christian life in our church.
Flavel is committed to the safeguarding, care and wellbeing of children and adults who may be vulnerable within our church and wider community.
We want Flavel to be a safe, welcoming place where everyone can worship, belong, grow in faith and take part in the life of our church with confidence and encouragement.
Have a safeguarding concern?
If you are concerned that a child or adult may be at risk of abuse, please report your concern as soon as possible, and within 24 hours at the latest, to the Church Safeguarding Lead or Assistant.
Non-emergency concerns
You can report a concern in person to the Safeguarding Officer or by telephone. They will contact the Diocesan Safeguarding Officer and make sure the appropriate steps are taken.
Emergency situations
If you believe a child or adult is in immediate danger of significant harm, call 999 immediately. Once you have done this, please report the concern to the Church Safeguarding Lead.
Safeguarding
Children
The safeguarding of children and young adults is of high priority for Flavel Church.
All paid staff and volunteers for our children’s groups have a DBS check completed and receive safeguard training to ensure they understand their positions, how they are to act with children and what to do if they have any concerns.
We aim to visit and support our church family for whom a friendly face and extra help may be valued.
Our safeguarding lead and assistant have had a full DBS check and have undertaken appropriate safeguarding training courses.
